ON Semiconductor Scholarship 2017/18

Congratulations to Aoife Grady on being awarded the ‘ON Semiconductor Scholarship in Electronics’. Aoife is one of two final year engineering students awarded the scholarship for the upcoming academic year 2017/2018. The scholarship will support Aoife in completing her final year of study on the B.Eng. in Electronic and Computer Engineering programme in the School of Electronic Engineering at DCU.  

ON Semiconductor is a leading global supplier of power and data management semiconductors and standard semiconductor components. Located at Raheen Business Park in a new state-of-the-art facility, the R&D team at ON Semiconductor’s Limerick Design Centre develops power management integrated circuits primarily for use in computing and consumer electronics applications.

ON Semiconductor Ireland is interested in supporting the academic achievements of engineering students. Since 2014, ON Semiconductor Ireland has awarded eleven Scholarships in Electronics with a total value of €33,000 to talented final year engineering students and it continuously seeks top students to employ for internships and graduate engineering positions.

Aoife believes that her passion for electronics and her extracurricular activities contributed to her being selected for the award. In her spare time, Aoife mentors young children at her local CoderDojo. She is also an active member of the DCU Engineering Society. She avails of every opportunity to promote her field of study and volunteers annually at the DCU School of Electronic Engineering Open Days to showcase activities within the School.

I am thoroughly enjoying my B.Eng. in Electronic and Computer Engineering studies at DCU and this unique opportunity will further enable me to build my skill set and develop my engineering career. I am very excited by the mentoring and guidance opportunities that ON Semiconductor will make available to me during my final year and am very appreciative of the opportunities the award has created for me.”
