DCU Energy and Climate Research Group (ECRG) Summer Student Research Internship 2019
The DCU Energy and Climate Research Group (ECRG) is pleased to offer a summer student research
internship for 2019 on the topic of Assessing International Aviation Emissions.
The objective will be to:
● Review existing methods for the allocating national responsibility for emissions from
international aviation
● Select and apply at least two methods to the assessment of Irish national responsibility for
such emissions
The internship will be located within the ECRG, a newly-formed, multi-disciplinary, cross-University
group engaged in a range of integrative research across climate and energy topics, including energy
system decarbonisation, the role of negative GHG emissions (carbon removal) in climate change
mitigation, and society-wide scenarios for effective climate mitigation action.
The intended internship duration is 6-8 weeks within in the period July-August 2019. Candidates
should have completed at least two years of undergraduate study in a relevant engineering discipline,
and be proficient in both written and spoken English. Up to €1,000 will be available to assist with
travel and re-location expenses, but any candidate for the internship should be in a position to fully
cover all remaining accommodation and subsistence expense
