In 2008 for the first time DCU Sport was awarded the EIQA (Excellence Ireland Quality Association). The EIQA Hygiene and Quality Standard for Leisure Centres framework was developed in conjunction with the Irish Hotel Federation (IHF) and independent members of the Leisure Industry. This standard not only meets the current legislative and regulatory requirements in Ireland and will take into account any future legislation, but also incorporates global best practice standards available. The EIQA Hygiene and Quality Standard for Leisure Centres provide a comprehensive framework for assessing Leisure Centres. The Hygiene and Quality Standard for Leisure Centres can be broken down into four key components:

Also in 2008 DCU Sport was awarded The White Flag. This award is presented by the Institute of Leisure & Amenity Management, it is an essential quality mark for any health and leisure facility that aspires to high standards and efficiency. In 2007 DCU Sport was successful under three headings in the O2 Ability Awards,
The Awards celebrate organisations and their business leaders that are successfully working with people with disabilities, rewarding professional excellence in this particular area of people-management. The Awards provide an environment for learning and continuous improvement. In 2008 The O2 Ability Awards underwent a re-branding and from 2009 will be known as the ‘Kanchi Awards’. In 2009 DCU Sport will again seek to be awarded the ‘Kanchi’ Award. |
