Academic biography

Dr Paul Liston is a Research Fellow in Dublin City University Business School. His areas of expertise are business process modelling, discrete event simulation and supply chain analysis. His current research focuses on applying operational analysis in a range of business sectors including healthcare, customer services, finance and manufacturing.

Dr Liston joined DCU from Dell Computers where he held positions as Global Commodity Manager and Supply Chain Consultant. He previously worked with the Irish Centre for Manufacturing Research on an industry-led collaborative research initiative that examined the challenges in the continued use of simulation in large multinational companies including Analog Devices, Bombardier, Boston Scientific, Seagate, HP, Intel and Pfizer.

Dr Liston has lectured in Discrete Event Simulation at Dublin Institute of Technology, Supply Chain Planning at the University of Limerick, and Lean Principles and Practices at the Institute of Banking. He has acted as External Examiner at Limerick Institute of Technology.  His research has been published in numerous international peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and contributed books.
