DCU Business School Students Excel in the CFA Global Investment Research Challenge

A DCU Business School team of students were runners up in the recent CFA Ireland "Global Investment Research Challenge". The participating team included students from the MSc in FinanceClodagh Kane, Safiah Ali M Asiri, Latifa Ennouni, Kieran Chinoy and Nicola Conroy,

The Global Investment Research Challenge is an educational initiative to promote best practices in equity research through hands-on mentoring and intensive training in company analysis and presentation skills. Each team taking part in the Challenge gets a unique hands-on opportunity to learn stock research and analysis skills from industry experts and to compete with peers from the world’s top finance programmes.

The Irish teams were mentored by both industry and academic professionals and were helped in researching and analysing a local company and to prepare a research report as if they were practicing analysts. Those research reports were then submitted to a panel of high-profile judges who also hear oral submissions on the students’ conclusions. The subject company for this year's competition was Aer Lingus.

The winning team on the day came from UCC team who will go on to represent Ireland at the European level of the challenge in London.

The DCU students thoroughly enjoyed the experience of the competiton and found it both a enjoyable challenge and personal development and knowledge building exercise.  We would like to congratulate the students for their achievement and we wish them the best of luck as they continue their careers in finance.
