Biography:

Marann Byrne is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Dublin City University Business School (DCUBS). She graduated from University College Dublin with first class honours in both a B.Comm. and a Masters in Management Science. She completed her Ph.D. at Dublin City University. She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and an associate of the Irish Taxation Institute. She completed her accountancy training with PWC. She has previously held the positions of Associate Dean for Taught Programmes and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies in DCUBS.

Marann’s principle research interests are: student learning in higher education; accounting within the Irish school curriculum; students’ perceptions of accounting; and the history of accounting education. She is the director of the Centre for Research on Student-learning and Teaching (CReST) and a Visiting Research Fellow at Sheffield Hallam University.
