IGNITE

IGNITE (Ildánach & Gaois Network - Initial Teacher Education) is a Department of Education initiative supporting creativity in initial teacher education (ITE). Its aim is the development and implementation of ITE modules in the interwoven areas of: 1. Ildánach - Creativity - coming up with new ideas and solutions 2. Gaois -Critical Thinking - evaluating ideas and solutions.

Fostering a professional learning community among ITE lecturers is a fundamental aspect of this project. Network members meet regularly online to share learnings and plans, and to support other members. Each member collaborates in the process of embedding creativity and critical thinking within individual programmes and / or modules while at the same time retaining full autonomy over the module and / or any materials they develop. Modules may either be standalone or contribute a significant element to an existing core module.
