Possibility Seminars

The DCU Centre for Possibility Studies has partnered with the Possibility Studies Network (PSN) to deliver the Possibility Seminars series initially launched by PSN in 2023. The autumn 2024 schedule included a wide range of topics and speakers including: Noah Sobe (A curious chapter in the history of human potential), David Rousell (Encounters between young children and the Aboriginal forest), Ryszard Praszkier (The meaning of paradoxical thinking for making the impossible possible), Dave Camilleri (Exploring creativity in BMX trail construction), Vicky Karaiskou (Seeing is believing... or limiting? The impact of visuality on imagination and change), Raffi Duymedjian (The rise of indeterminacy: How to prepare for the unexpected?), Izabela Lebuda (A systematic framework of creative metacognition), James Kaufman and Dana Rowe (Lessons in creativity from musical theatre characters), and Zachary Peck and Elmo Feiten (Constructive constraints: On the role of chance and complexity in artistic creativity). The seminars are open to the general public and attract a highly international and interdisciplinary audience. Lead coordinator: Nicolas Verger.
