4th Virtual Conference of Possibility Studies
The DCU Centre for Possibility Studies was delighted to support the Possibility Studies Network for the 4th Virtual Conference which took place on January 20-21, 2025. We chose to start our conference on January 20th, often cited as the "saddest day of the year," as a deliberate act of reimagining possibilities. By engaging in vibrant intellectual exchange on this day, we aimed to transform it into a day of hope, inspiration, and new beginnings. This conference explored the frontiers of what's possible, challenging conventional wisdom and imagining new futures. Keynotes included Dr. Leyya Hoosen, a Socio-Cultural Digital Anthropologist, specialising in critical approaches to gender, decolonial, and religion studies, Karabo-Maya Sankara Rodwell, a PhD candidate in Socio-Cultural Anthropology at the University of the Witwatersrand looking at the loved experiences of young people in Southern Africa, and Ashish Kothari, founder-member of Kalpavriksh and member of many people’s movements. Lead organiser: Wendy Ross.
