Datalex DCU Research Paper Award 2025

Following a highly competitive selection process, we are pleased to announce the recipients of the Datalex DCU 2025 Best Research Paper Award in Software Engineering at the School of Computing.

This year’s award has been presented to Zoe Collins, Luigi Di Paolo, Cathal O’Grady, and Niall Ryan for their outstanding paper, Programming Language Selection in Software Engineering. Their research explored four different programming languages, evaluating their suitability across a range of software development scenarios.

Over the course of ten weeks, the team engaged in both independent study and collaborative analysis, applying structured research methodologies to produce a rigorous and insightful body of work. Their findings were shared with peers through a formal presentation and a live Q&A session as part of the final evaluation.
