I chose the MA in Creative Writing to develop my writing skills and progress my novel.

With the MA in Creative Writing, I learned from the best. Modules were delivered by award-winning writers who were skilful, humble, and passionate about teaching. They offered practical guidance through workshops and mentoring yet provided a safe space for me to experiment with my own words and voice. 

The MA introduced me to many different forms of writing that I would never have tried otherwise. There were also lots of opportunities to network with industry professionals. Guest speakers were invited to talk to us about the business of writing with tips for pitching to an agent or publisher, overcoming creative burnout, and of course, the discipline of day-to-day writing.

There was a lovely mix of students in my class - of all age groups and writing styles - who were supportive of one another, offering encouraging feedback and a fresh perspective. We still keep in touch through our book club and other social gatherings. 

Classes were well structured and facilitated me working part-time, not to mention the wonderful setting in All Hallows with its pointed archways and echoey halls.

I had participated in writing courses before but when you have a Masters to your name, it’s a different level. It proves you’re committed to the craft and have achieved a high standard of writing that’s recognised universally. 

So, whether you’re looking to get your novel published or want to move into a more artistic job, I would highly recommend the DCU MA in Creative Writing as it opens a lot of doors.
