Matthew Horne O'Connor
I’ve always enjoyed problem solving whether it was maths in school or building my own project at home. I realised that I had a love for coding and designing and writing code to make websites and games. However, I really enjoyed programming physical projects that I could hold in my hands and that’s how I knew that Electronic and Computer Engineering was the course for me.
I chose DCU engineering because I knew that I’d be learning new skills and technical knowledge through practical means. This has really cemented my knowledge and, most importantly, my confidence in my problem solving skills and puts me in a great and prepared position as I enter the workplace.
All of my modules are industry relevant and teach us about cutting edge innovations in the field while also ensuring we have a strong baseline knowledge to work from.
Electronic and Computer Engineering in DCU provides the perfect environment for anyone with a love of problem solving to thrive. Students have the opportunity to fully develop and demonstrate their skills with the constant support and encouragement from all staff in the Faculty of Engineering and from DCU’s strong industry links.
