Hello and welcome, I’m Goran Dominioni and I am the Chair of the LLM Programme at DCU (Master of Laws). I’ve been with DCU’s School of Law and Government since 2020.

Before joining DCU, I worked in climate policy in Washington, D.C., and graduated from Yale Law School (LLM) and Erasmus University Rotterdam (PhD). Now, I continue working on climate change law and policy in an academic role, and I also teach on this topic in the LLM programme. If you are interested in this topic, I look forward to meeting you in class.

Throughout my career, I studied and worked in many different countries, including the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, Romania, Belgium and more. This has been an extremely enriching experience for me, not only from a professional point of view, but also as a person.

Our LLM Programme has a strong European and International dimension thanks to the subjects taught and the excellent teaching faculty involved. The programme aims to prepare students to succeed in their professional life in Ireland, the EU, and to create opportunities even beyond.

I see the LLM Programme as a pathway for students to achieve personal and professional growth through the development of critical thinking, upskilling, networking and specialisation.

At DCU, we do our best to ensure that students have the opportunity to learn in a seminar-style classroom, develop or consolidate key skills to succeed in the modern world, and meet leading legal professionals that work in Ireland, the EU, and the world. The LLM includes a “Life of a Law Graduate” speaking series where we invite legal professionals to meet our students and share their experience in working in different law-related career paths and how they got there.

Having an interdisciplinary background myself (I have a background in law and economics!), I see a lot of value in ensuring that our students can learn more than just black-letter law, and can actually understand how law shapes and is shaped inter alia by society, economics, and politics. Many of the modules offered in the LLM Programme at DCU take an interdisciplinary perspective with a socio-legal approach.
