I chose Biological Sciences General Entry as I knew that I wanted to study Science. I was so excited coming into this course. I thought there would be a lot of biology, but we also study chemistry and physics. That’s good because a lot of students would not have chosen these for the Leaving Certificate, so it gives them a good grounding for further education.
In a typical week, we have to manage continual assessment, online homework and pre- and post-laboratory assignments, but the lecturers have been helpful and there are a lot of resources we can use.
We also take a module called Interdisciplinary Science and Professional Skills for Scientists and Engineering, which is insightful. We use Excel, create scientific presentations and do our own research, which reflects what the next three years will be like.
