Dublin City University will host the ninth edition News Impact Summit (#NISDUB) on Tuesday 8 December, 2015. Organised by the European Journalism Centre (EJC), the Google News Lab and the Institute for Future Media and Journalism (FuJo) at DCU, the summit will assess the year of 2015 and focus on how digital journalism can open up conversations about ethics, collaborative research and how the industry can take advantage of technology in innovative reporting.

Key questions will be explored such as how journalists and newsrooms should foster emerging practices in a rapidly shifting news environment and which state-of-the-art concepts are now at the forefront of digital journalism.

This full-day public event will feature outstanding initiatives in the digital media domain, bring together leading editors, journalists, media experts and tool makers from all over the world. Participants will have an opportunity to join the debate with the experts and attend workshops on topics varying from user-generated content verification and data-driven journalism.

The keynote speaker is Micah Gelman, Director of Editorial Video at The Washington Post, who will be speak about his new video strategy in a talk entitled ‘Why Digital Video Stories are Winning and How’. Hanna Ingber, International Desk Editor of The New York Times will speak about the New York Times ‘New approach for engaging stories’ and Jane Suiter, Director, FuJo, will explore the ‘Future of Journalism in the Digital Age’.
