Dublin City University and Vision Ireland sign Memorandum of Understanding
This month, DCU and Vision Ireland have signed a memorandum of understanding at The Wayfinding Centre, building on a number of recent collaborations together and in particular with Insight, the SFI centre for Data Analytics, and DCU’s Institute of Education.
Speaking at The Wayfinding Centre, a new resource that provides the opportunity for users to acquire public transport skills, DCU President Professor Daire Keogh said:
This agreement builds on the success of several projects and collaborations we have already delivered with Vision Ireland. Our work together reflects our shared values and our commitment to transformation. I look forward to the next steps in this positive partnership.
Chris White, CEO of Vision Ireland, explained their aims for the collaboration:
We are delighted to formalise our collaboration with Dublin City University through this Memorandum of Understanding, marking a key step in our mission to create a more inclusive environment for all. The Wayfinding Centre’s vision is to be a global leader in providing innovative and sustainable solutions for the transport and mobility challenges faced by people with a disability. As the world’s first accessible transport training facility, it is uniquely positioned to tackle the critical issue of transport accessibility. With over 1.1 million people in Ireland living with a disability, and only 6% utilising public transport daily, this partnership with DCU is crucial in breaking down these barriers, and ensuring greater mobility, and enabling wider participation in employment, education, and society.
