Two current DCU students representing Ireland at Olympics
Representing Rugby 7s, Boxing, Swimming and Athletics, DCU will have 12 current and former student Olympians representing Ireland in France.
Current students Béibhinn Parsons (Women’s Rugby 7s) and Jack Raftery (Athletics) will both compete in the coming fortnight.
DCU Alumni taking part in the games include Jennifer Lehane (Boxing), Andrew Coscoran (Men’s 1500m), Jodie McCann (Women’s 5000m), Sophie Becker (Mixed 4x400m Relay, Women’s 4x400m Relay and Women’s 400m), Brian Fay (Men’s 5000m), Cathal Doyle (Men's 1500m) Kelly McGrory (Women's 4x400m Relay, Mixed 4x400m Relay), David Harte (Men's Hockey), Erin Riordan (Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay, Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay) and Fionnuala McCormack (Women’s Marathon). Fionnuala is also the first Irish woman to compete in five Olympic Games. David Sweeney, (MSc Elite Sports Performance, 2023), is the Field Event Lead for Team Ireland.
