2024 DCU Futures Student Showcase takes place
The 2024 DCU Futures Student Showcase took place on Thursday 21 March, allowing students to display their diverse range of work and hear from industry professionals.
DCU Futures is the most ambitious innovation in teaching and learning in the history of Dublin City University. Operating as a blueprint for the University and funded by the Human Capital Initiative, this €19.9 million project is an unprecedented commitment to radically re-imagine undergraduate education for the 21st century to meet the challenge of empowering students to be future-capable and thrive in an increasingly unscripted world defined by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity.
Students displayed their projects, while an alumni panel consisting of Molly Brennan, Tadhg Guiry and Luiz Evelin provided insights into opportunities for DCU Futures students post-graduation.
DCU President Professor Dáire Keogh said:
“The projects on show clearly demonstrate the talent, creativity and innovative spirit of our DCU Futures students. The showcase creates a unique opportunity for the cross-pollination of ideas between programmes, and the development of students’ transversal skills.
"It’s also a showcase for the broader DCU Future philosophy, which we are working to infuse in all our undergraduate programmes.”
Dr Susan Hegarty, Institutional Lead for DCU Futures, said
“The DCU Futures Student Showcase is an occasion for our students to show the wider DCU community some of the fruits of their work during the academic year. DCU Futures aims to transform the undergraduate student experience, through innovative pedagogy, industry engagement and embedding transversal skills. Each of these aspects of DCU Futures are evident at the Showcase. We are really proud of what we have achieved so far in this initiative, which is the future direction of travel for the university.”
DCU Futures is funded by the Higher Education Authority's HCI Pillar 3, a government programme designed to meet priority skills needs, by increasing collaboration between higher education and enterprise with a focus on innovations in teaching and learning.
