DCU & Arizona State University announce new fund for ideas exchange and student engagement
Dublin City University and Arizona State University have announced a new seed fund to support short term academic and professional staff exchange between both universities.
The details were revealed as part of a transatlantic virtual celebration hosted by ASU Women and Philanthropy in partnership with DCU to mark #IWD2021 (Monday, March 8th)
“The Future We Want For Women in Leadership” featured a fireside chat between Sybil Francis, Ph.D., Standing Co-chair, ASU Women and Philanthropy and President & CEO, Center for the Future of Arizona and Katie Keogh, DCU Doctoral Research Candidate and Community Volunteer.
In a wide-ranging discussion the challenges facing women including the gender pay gap, career advancement and childcare were all put under the spotlight. The event also featured contributions from a hugely engaged transatlantic audience.
In 2013, DCU and Arizona State University announced a Transatlantic Higher Education Partnership. This new fund will advance that partnership, and promote education and research collaborations which seek to have a positive impact on the economies and communities in Ireland and Arizona.
Monday’s event also showcased the academic research collaborations between both institutions with contributions from Prof Nicholas Dunne, Executive Director, Biodesign Europe and Director, MedEng Research Centre, Prof Deirdre Butler, DCU Institute of Education, Dr Monica Ward, School of Computing; Dr Kimberly Scott, Founding Executive Director, ASU Center for Gender Equity in Science and Technology and DCU alumni David Azcona, a former Postdoctoral Research, Insight Centre for Data Analytics at DCU and a previous visiting researcher at ASU under a Fulbright Fellowship.
