4 Irish finalists shortlisted for European Innovation in Politics Awards
Dublin City University's School of Law and Government is the Irish partner of the Innovation in Politics Institute who administer the Europe-wide Innovation in Politics Awards. The 2020 shortlisted finalists and the winning entries were announced earlier today.
Four Irish entries reached the European finals this year, including Clare, Fingal, Meath and South Dublin County Councils. They were among 90 finalists from 389 outstanding project entries from a record number of 22 countries. The four Irish projects and all finalists were shortlisted by a citizens’ jury of 1,058 Europeans.

The Awards highlight a range of examples of decisions and actions by politicians that make a real and positive difference to people and communities around Ireland. Irish finalists include:
- Meath County Council was European finalists for the second consecutive year. This year it was a finalist in the Quality of Life Category for its work to improve housing options for older people through its Age Friendly Housing Technical Support Service. - A first time entre in 2020, Clare County Council reached the finals in the Education Category for its work on The Vision Symphony, an arts project facilitating people with sight difficulties to play in an orchestra. The Vision Symphony - The Innovation in Politics Institute

The overall winners of the prestigious awards were also announced today, with this year’s winners coming from Austria, France, the Netherlands, Poland and Ukraine, as well as two winners each from Slovakia and the United Kingdom.
