Book Launch: Teaching for Social Justice and Sustainable Development Across the Primary Curriculum
A new book edited by DCU academics will support primary school teachers to integrate meaningful social justice and sustainability education into a wide range of existing curricular subjects.
The book ‘Teaching for Social Justice and Sustainable Development Across the Primary Curriculum’ entails practical and ready-to use lesson plans, resources and activities to address issues including gender stereotyping, racism, heterosexism, climate change and species extinction. It is aimed at student teachers, teachers, educational leaders and anyone interested in inspiring children to work towards creating a more socially just and sustainable world.
The book will be launched by Minister for Education, Norma Foley TD, at a virtual event taking place on Monday 21st June at 4pm. It has also been supported by President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins who provided the forward and remarked:
“I have no doubt whatsoever that the quality of the debate on the social justice and sustainability issues will be immensely aided by this work… What an advantage it will be to have this book available for the classroom and for the teacher education colleges.”
