Rockets are fired toward Israel from the enclave of Gaza on October 7, 2023. Hamas militants in Gaza fired a deadly barrage of rockets and sent gunmen into Israeli territory in a surprise attack that became the deadliest terror attack in Israel’s history.

Professor Carol Rittner

Carol Rittner is Distinguished Professor of Holocaust & Genocide Studies Emerita and Marsha Raticoff Grossman Professor of Holocaust Studies Emerita at Stockton University, New Jersey. She is the author, editor, or co-editor of 24 books and numerous essays in various scholarly and educational journals about the Holocaust and other genocides of the 20th and 21st centuries.  Her more recent publications include The Holocaust and the Christian World (2019); Advancing Holocaust Studies (2021); and The Memory of Goodness: Eva Fleischner and Her Contributions to Holocaust Studies (2022). Dr. Rittner is the Honorary President of WHISC – Women in the Holocaust International Study Center, Givat Haviva, Israel. She is the co-editor, with John K. Roth, of Stress Test: The Impact of the Israel-Hamas War on Christian-Jewish Relations (2025).

Professor John Roth

John K. Roth is the Edward J. Sexton Professor of Philosophy Emeritus, Claremont McKenna College, where he taught for more than forty years and was the founding director of the Center for the Study of the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights (now the Mgrublian Center for Human Rights). A Protestant Christian with Presbyterian and Methodist ties, he encourages Christian-Jewish relations and has written or edited more than sixty books, including The Failures of Ethics; Sources of Holocaust Insight; and Warnings: The Holocaust, Ukraine, and Endangered American Democracy (with Leonard Grob).
