Student Life
Your university experience is not just about earning a degree; it's also about personal growth, making friends, and creating lasting memories. Embrace the opportunities and challenges that come your way, and you will have a fulfilling and enriching time at DCU. Remember, even if you don't live on campus, you can still participate in activities. Use the public transport links to get to campus and explore the sustainable options available for movement across our campuses to get engaged in the social and academic life of the university.
Clubs and Societies
Getting involved in Clubs and Societies is an excellent way to explore your interests and can help you meet people who share your interests. Irrespective of the stage you're at or programme level, there truly is something for everyone. Keep an eye on the student life website for organised events for members and non-members.
Your Campus Life Services
The U Building is a hub of activity on campus. It's a great place to relax between classes, make new friends, and find quieter spaces if you need to study or just have some time out. There are also a host of meeting spaces, and the “steps” are a great place to eat your lunch. The presence of gender-neutral bathrooms is also a positive step towards inclusivity.
Located in the U and in D block on St Pats campus, the Student Life Information Hubs are your go to for general information, leap card top up, tickets for events, free pregnancy test kits, campus and Dublin maps, branded clothing and much more.
Don't hesitate to reach out to the Students’ Union for assistance or information. They are there to support you and can be a valuable resource throughout your university journey. The full-time student officers are located upstairs in the U and in Java every day.
Social and Dining Spaces
Campus canteens and cafes can be excellent places to grab a meal, relax, or meet friends. There are also microwaves located in the U, the main canteen and Java to allow you heat your own food. Sharing a meal is often a great way to bond with others. The NuBar is also a popular meeting point to relax and unwind and offers a good alternative for food on campus during the day and evening.
Sports and Physical Activity
Staying active is not only good for your physical health but also your mental well-being. Take advantage of the sports complex, swimming pool, and gym facilities to maintain a healthy lifestyle and potentially meet others who enjoy the same activities. Many DCU sports clubs use the facilities for training and games, throughout the academic year.
Finally, academic challenges and loneliness can crop up at any time. Remember to look out for each other and to reach out for support if and when you need it. Contact the Student Advice and Learning Skills Centre or drop-in to the Student Life Hubs for support.
