Academic biography

Professor Edel Conway is Full Professor of HRM and Organisational Psychology at DCU Business School. Edel is an organisational psychologist with expertise in the areas of Human Resource Management and Organisational Change. 

Edel is especially interested in employee perspectives on work, particularly employee engagement and wellbeing and employee reactions to work intensification and organisational change. Edel has managed numerous employee engagement surveys within the Irish civil service and the wider public sector. She has also engaged in research and consultancy projects in knowledge intensive firms, particularly in the pharma, ICT, and financial service sectors. Edel is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Personnel Review and is a former Associate Editor of Human Resource Management Journal and Editor of the Irish Journal of Management. She is a member of the Academy of Management, the European Association of Work and Organisational Psychology, the European Academy of Management, and the Psychological Society of Ireland. Edel previously served as Associate Dean for Research and Director of Doctoral Studies at DCU Business School. 

Edel's research has received both national and international recognition. She was awarded a Fellowship of the Irish Academy of Management for her contribution to the advancement of management studies in Ireland.  She is also a former recipient of the European Young Psychologist award and an Albert College Fellowship.  Edel is a former Director of the LInK Research Institute at DCU, a former Editor of the Irish Journal of Management and a former council member of the Irish Academy of Management. She has been a recipient of the European Young Psychologist Award, as well as a DCU Albert College Fellowship. Prior to joining DCU, Edel worked as a HR consultant with Citibank and was a research assistant at the London Business School.
