The UK government recently announced another extension of the financial support provided to successful UK Horizon Europe applicants (the Guarantee), which will now be in place to cover all Horizon Europe calls that close by the end of 2022. Until now, the Guarantee covered calls where the grant agreement was expected to be signed by the end of 2022. This extension means that the Guarantee will now be in place to cover all Horizon Europe calls that close on or before 31 December 2022, with the majority of grant signature dates expected before the end of August 2023. This includes the MSCA Doctoral Networks 2022 call.
Following the announcement, the relevant UKRI guidance documents and UKRO factsheet on UK participation in EU programmes have also been updated.
IRC is inviting nominations for 72nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, which is dedicated to Physiology and Medicine. The meeting will be held from 25th June - 30th June 2023 on the island of Lindau, situated on Lake Constance in south Germany. Up to 600 highly-talented young scientists are expected to take part, meeting with Nobel Laureates.
The Irish Research Council, as a strategic partner with the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, runs a national selection process. A maximum of three shortlisted candidates will be nominated to the international selection process, which is conducted by the Lindau Review Panel. This panel makes the final selection from up to 1,500 profiles for every meeting before choosing the top applicants who will receive an invitation to attend. The selected candidates will receive an award which comprises €500 to cover their travel expenses for attending the meeting.
Applications are welcomed from postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers working in the fields of Physiology and Medicine. DCU can nominate upto 3 researchers for these meetings. If you are interested in applying/nominating a candidate please email the following documents to sumona.mukherjee@dcu.ie :
- the nominee’s curriculum vitae;
- a statement of motivation from the nominee (half page in length) which should explain briefly why they think that participation would be beneficial to them, their research, career and host organisation;
- a letter of recommendation (one page in length) from a highly qualified scientist who is either in a supervisory role for the nominee’s project; or who may be well acquainted with their work; or who is a leading scholar in the field and is sufficiently knowledgeable about them. This letter should contain the formal letterhead of the organisation of the person signing the letter. Please ensure that the letter of recommendation is specific to the nominee.
As part of SFI Summit 2022 programme, SFI is looking forward to celebrating the achievements of SFI-funded researchers, when the SFI Annual Awards 2022 will be announced during the Summit. This is an important opportunity to recognise the excellent research carried out by the research community.
Award nominations, including SFI Researcher of the Year, are now open and we strongly encourage DCU researchers to submit their nominations here before the deadline of 10th October.
Science Posters Welcome
SFI researchers are invited to submit scientific posters to share their work with their peers, which will be accessible to all Summit delegates during the event. SFI particularly welcomes video submissions – guidelines and rules can be found here and the submission deadline is 10th October 2022.
