IRC COALESCE Research Fund 2020

Congratulations to Dr Robert Gillanders of DCU Business School and Dr Lorraine Boran of School of Psychology for being awarded COALESCE Research Funding.

Dr Rob Gillanders’ project is co-funded by Irish Aid and he will be working in collaboration with Dr Eugenie Maiga, University of Koudougou, Burkina Faso. Through this project they will examine ways in which corruption undermines gender equality and sustainable development. 

Dr Lorraine Boran’s project, The PANO Trial, will examine Physical Activity and Nutrition Optimisation Prehabilitation in Cancer Patients with Peritoneal Malignancy. She will be working in collaboration with Dr. Lisa Loughney, RCSI.

Total award value to DCU is €512,000. We wish the very best to both the awardees and look forward to hearing about the results. 

 

SFI US-Ireland Partnership Programme Award 

Congratulations to Dr Margaret McCaul (School of Chemical Sciences/INSIGHT) and Professor Noel O’Connor (School of Electronic Engineering/INSIGHT) on being awarded a SFI US-Ireland Partnership Programme grant.

The three year project will focus on developing an ultrasensitive nitrogen sensor using imprinted polymer assisted bacteria, to be used for real-time monitoring of water quality. The overall value of the award to DCU and its partners is approximately €987,000. Collaborating institutions include Queen’s University Belfast and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
