The President’s Awards for Research 2021 and the President’s Awards for Research Impact 2021 were presented earlier today, 26th May 2021, at a virtual ceremony.

The awards recognise the excellent research taking place in DCU and celebrate the contribution of DCU researchers to discovery and the translation of knowledge to advance society.

 

President’s Awards for Research 2021

In recognition of their outstanding research achievements, the President’s Awards for Research 2021 were presented to the following 3 recipients:

 

2021 President’s Research Award for Early Career Research Staff

Dr Lisa van der Werff (DCU Business School)

Research Area: Building Positive Workplace Relationships: Trust Development in our Relationships with Coworkers, Organisations and Technology

 

2021 President’s Research Award for Natural Sciences, Health,  Engineering and related areas

Prof Gareth Jones (School of Computing)

Research Area: Information retrieval from digital archives for a better informed society

 

2021 President’s Research Award for Humanities, Social Sciences, Business, Education and related areas

Prof Federico Fabbrini (School of Law & Government / DCU Brexit Institute)

Research Area: Professor of Law at DCU and Founding Director of DCU Brexit Institute

President’s Awards for Research Impact 2021

There were 3 recipients of the President’s Awards for Research Impact 2021, acknowledging those whose research at DCU has led to excellent impact outside of academia:

 

Prof James O’Higgins Norman

(National Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre, UNESCO Chair on Tackling Bullying in Schools and Cyberspace)

Project Title: FUSE Anti-Bullying & Online Safety Programme for Primary and Post-Primary Schools

 

Dr Carol Barron

(School of Nursing, Psychotherapy and Community Health)

Project Title: From participation to Policy: Implementing children and adolescents voice in county wide Play and Recreation Policies

 

Dr Diarmuid Torney

(School of Law and Government)

Project Title: Research to underpin the strengthening of Ireland’s climate change law
