SFI Future Innovator Prize (Plastics Challenge) - DCU Team progresses to the Seed Phase

Congratulations to Dr Jennifer Gaughran (School of Physics), Dr Brian Freeland (School of Biotechnology) and Sam Fahy (DCU Sustainability) on successful completion of the SFI Plastics Challenge Concept Phase and progression to the Seed Phase of the SFI Plastics Challenge.

DCU’s Grain-4-Lab project aims to reduce reliance on single-use plastics in laboratories and to develop sustainable laboratory-grade bioplastics using currently untapped waste-streams from the Irish brewing & distilling industries. By engaging with multiple stakeholders in both public and private sectors the project will also develop pathways on how to effectively adopt sustainable solutions in laboratories.
