Five DCU researchers secure enterprise partnered research projects in Research Ireland scheme

The funded projects span treatments for ovarian cancer and the implementation of digital mental health technologies, and draw support from a range of partner organisations and companies. They come as part of €4.3 million in funding announced by Research Ireland in December.

Luna Stockmann, Isobel Walsh, Chloe Green, Yingru Zhou, and Dr Lucy Hayden have been awarded funding for projects in which they will collaborate with enterprise partners. The projects will allow them to gain relevant experience and skills in return for their expertise and specialist knowledge.

Each year the Enterprise Partnership Postgraduate and Postdoctoral schemes pair researchers with multinational corporations, SMEs, public-sector agencies, and non-governmental organisations on projects of mutual interest. The projects range from 24 to 48 months in duration.

This year, three of the researchers will collaborate with Breakthrough Cancer Research, with the other two to work with Irish non-profit Global Heart Hub and mental health charity Jigsaw.

Luna Stockmann is a PhD student in the DCU Life Sciences Institute. Isobel Walsh and Chloe Green are PhD students in the School of Psychology. Yingru Zhou is a PhD student in the School of Chemical Sciences.
