Student Account Information
-
When you register as a new student at DCU, you'll receive an email address, username, and password. This account will give you access to all DCU student services, including your email (Gmail), Wifi (eduroam) and Loop. Please note that ISS only supports Gmail and the official GSuite apps.
-
Although your email address ends with @mail.dcu.ie, it is a Google "Gmail" account and comes with all the benefits of Gmail. Use your DCU Apps email address only for university-related activities. Do not use your DCU account to register for personal activities such as banking, Netflix and Spotify, only use a separate personal email account.
-
Google Drive is a 1GB cloud storage service that allows you to store files. For personal data and photos, use a separate personal cloud storage account to increase your available storage space.
Please Note: Your DCU student email account and all associated services will be deleted from the 1st October after you have graduated.
-
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds extra security to your DCU student account, ensuring that it can't be accessed without your knowledge. MFA requires a second form of authentication using the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Please note: Your DCU student email account and all associated services will be deleted from the 1st October after you have graduated. This means that after you have completed your studies and officially graduated, you will lose access to your email account and any associated online services provided by DCU, such as cloud storage and university-specific software. It's important to ensure that you back up any important emails, documents, and data before this date.

Your DCU student email account and all associated services will be deleted from the 1st October after you have graduated.
As of Friday, 18 August 2023, mail.dcu.ie DCU accounts for those who graduated prior to 2022 have been discontinued. All associated data - emails, contact details, information and photos stored on Google Drive, etc - not migrated or downloaded prior to the deadline can no longer be accessed. Alumni were given notice that this process was beginning in May 2023 and asked to download or migrate their data if they wished to keep it.
Access to Office365 for alumni was also retired, and access to Loop, Eduroam WiFi and the library is limited to current students only.
Further information on the Alumni Migration project is available here.
