BREAKING NEW MEDICAL GROUND AT DCU
Dublin City University's Innovation Campus, DCU Alpha, played host to a highly prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Hacking Medicine event in September. The event was aimed at uncovering innovative new treatments for patients and 3R, a post-stroke recovery and rehabilitation platform which guides, assists and monitors the rehabillition of stroke victims in their own homes, beat off strong competition from eight other teams to claim the top prize.
The nine teams worked throughout the event to develop solutions to provide better outcomes for patients in areas such as drug logistics, more effective doctor-patient interaction, and a better overall patient experience.
"We were delighted to bring the MIT Hacking Medicine concept to Ireland for the first time, and have to commend all of the teams that prticipated," MIT Hacking Medicine co-directors, Khalil Ramadi said. "Each came with great ideas and worked all weekend to deliver really impressive concepts and pitches."
