“My 11-month INTRA placement at Anglo Irish Bank has been a hugely positive experience. I held a position in Lending, which is an area that I was interested in but I didn’t have a huge amount of knowledge as to what actually happened day-to-day in this business.

I had never worked a nine to half five job before and the whole office environment was new to me. If you take nothing else from your placement, you will find out if this type of environment suits you and the way you work.

Anglo were very good in giving me responsibility once I had shown that I was willing to do the work myself. If you work hard on your placement, you will constantly be provided with interesting and fresh challenges.

In my opinion the biggest indication that my placement was a success is the fact that it has helped me choose my subjects for next year. Following my placement, which was quite a numerical job, I now have no doubt that the financial specialism is the best option for me.

To summarise, I think that the INTRA programme is a hugely beneficial one. It has given me some real world experience to reference in my final year and the experience will also make me a much more desirable prospect to potential employers.”
