“Before starting my year-long placement with the New Business Unit in Allianz, I had no idea what to expect from working in the insurance industry and I wondered how it would relate to my course. However, as the weeks went on, skills and knowledge gained over my two years in DCU began to show and were put to good use.

The balance in DCU between independent and group work was crucial to my progress and development in the workplace.

The highlight of the placement for me was being able to complete a service to a client, from first point of contact right through to delivery. This was a great feeling as it proved how my learning and work had paid off. Staff nights out were great fun too!

After my time here I wouldn't rule out a return to Allianz. However, I do hope to follow a path into accountancy after college. Overall, my key advice is that what you get out of your placement is a directly associated with what you put into it!”
