New Lessons from the Financial Trenches Guest Lecture Series

DCU Business School is pleased to announce two guest lectures in finance that will take place during the month of April.

These lectures initiate a lecture series, Lessons from the Financial Trenches, which will be offered by distinguished practitioners to the students of DCU’s M.Sc. in Finance and Capital Markets program.

These lectures will provide a first-hand account of the latest developments in the financial industry and an opportunity for students to discuss such developments with experienced industry players.

Details of the two lectures scheduled for April 2010 are, as follows:

Lecture title: “Practical uses of financial engineering in retail banking: its impact on business models, funding structures and products pricing”

Guest lecturers: Alessio Miranda, Group Head of Internal Audit at AIB and former Audit Director at Barclays (formerly also in Bank of Italy), and his colleague Karen McNamara

Lecture venue and time: Room Q119, DCU Business School, Wednesday, 14th April, 2:15pm - 3:30pm

Guest lecturer: Ken Mintern, Managing Director of Key Capital

Lecture venue and time: Room QG21, DCU Business School, Monday, 19th April, 2:00pm - 3:00pm


DCU’s M.Sc. in Finance and Capital Markets programme provides excellent specialist training in treasury and investment activities in financial markets and institutions. The programme emphasises technical skills and rigour, and students learn the latest quantitative and econometrics skills that are increasingly important in financial services.
