 Options for Science Graduates

Science Graduates are employed in a diverse range of sectors. This includes work in pharmaceuticals, brewing, food processing, quality testing, fine chemical manufacture, waste treatment, medical therapeutics, diagnostics, environmental monitoring, health and safety, research & development, healthcare and teaching.

Not all science graduates want to work in the area of science for example, working in sales & marketing, regulatory affairs and banking and finance.

As a science graduate, you have developed subject specific knowledge as well as skills in the area of analytical and problem-solving; handling, analysing and evaluating information, research; time management and organisation; written and oral communication; monitoring; teamwork; IT and technology, and numerical ability.

With this in mind, know what you have to offer in terms of academic success, skills and competencies and have the evidence to support your argument. Develop a good network of contacts by joining professional bodies and social networks, for example, LinkedIn. Have your action plan and be flexible and adaptable.
