 Dear Students,
First of all, I would like to wish you a very enjoyable summer holiday.
Today, we are going to focus on positive outcomes. As a DCU graduate you can offer innovation, enthusiasm, relevant work experience and commitment. You are a long term investment for firms who want to survive the recession and to better times beyond it. What can you do to improve your chances of success in a competitive jobs market?
1. Get experience.
Make sure to get some useful experience, preferably a job, voluntary work, or further study. This will build on your skills and give you the opportunity to shine.
2. Be flexible about what you’re prepared to do.
The current economy may mean your ideal job is just not a realistic option at the moment. Make sure to look at various routes to assist you in the short-term.
3. Network with people who may be able to offer you get your first break in the graduate jobs market. Networking is about making the most of contacts you have through university, family, social networks and work you’ve done.
4. Research the job market, not just by looking at the vacancies that are advertised but at the business and news pages too.
5. Sell yourself.

6. Build on your achievements and who you are.
Reflecting on what you want to do and identifying key selling points and what you have to offer an employer is the starting point for successful job search.

1. MSc position in Food Preservation:-
The FHI at UCD will consist of up to 30 individual scientists/postgraduate students working on the development of milk based Functional Foods targeting health areas which include early infant development, metabolic syndrome, immunity/infection and colorectal cancer.

Career Opportunities for Graduates at The Central Bank:-

Notification of CIMA’s new initiative for MBA qualification holders |

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has introduced a fast-track route for MBA holders to become a CIMA qualified management accountant – the CIMA Masters Gateway (CMGA). Under the initiative, as a MBA holder you can study for one fast-track exam to gain the CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting qualification. This will then progress you straight through to CIMA’s strategic level of the CIMA Professional qualification.
The CIMA qualification is an internationally recognised qualification, which will add value to your existing MBA qualification; particularly with regard to the capabilities in applying an accounting and strategic lens across business.

The University has advertised a number of scholarships to launch its O'Hare Scholars PhD research scholarship programme.
In order to honour the contribution of its founding president Daniel O'Hare, and to respond to a number of national strategic priority areas, the University will fund a number of PhD research scholarships in the areas of Innovation, Sustainability, and Social Cohesion.
The University welcomes applications under these headings in all its disciplinary areas. Successful candidates will be known as O'Hare Scholars and will be paid a stipend of €16,000 for three years in addition to their fees.

National College of Ireland launch the dot conf |

On Thursday 22nd July 2010, National College of Ireland www.ncirl.ie will host the dot conf, a free one-day web technology conference for people who work, rest or play with the internet.
The conference will act as a fresh gathering place for the broad spectrum of Ireland’s web community, where attendees will hear about the latest technologies, developments and industry news. There will be a strong focus on the practical applications of new and emerging web technologies with the speaker line-up including a combination of local heroes and international heavyweights.
