DCU Transition Year Camps: Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers
The camps commenced with an interactive workshop on programming single board computers, which was led by Dr Anderson Simiscuka. This was followed by a campus tour, and after lunch the students attended a talk about sustainability and engineering. Prof Gabriel-Miro Muntean led a demonstration inspired by the research performed in the Performance Engineering Lab.
The demos included outputs of the EU projects HEAT and NEXT, EU Marie Curie SyMeCo and NeuroInsight and Research Ireland-funded project FRADIS. They concentrated on demonstrating the developments in XR, communication, GenAI and multi-sensory technologies and allowed the students to try some of them by themselves, combining information with fun.
Overall, these camps were great successes, and saw very impressive talent and innovative skills from the Transition Year students.
