NextGen Symposium - November 2016

The recent NextGen research symposium organised by the National Institute of Digital Learning was a tremendous success. http://dlsymposium.dryfta.com/en

This Digital Learning Research Symposium took place at the Helix on the Glasnevin Campus of Dublin City University. The aim of this Symposium was to connect Irish educators across all sectors and levels in order to better understand some of the big issues facing us in the digital era. A key objective is to help increase capacity in digital learning research by building stronger bridges across and between different generations of educational researchers, which includes current and prospective postgraduate students, doctoral candidates, new and emerging researchers and experienced practitioners and academics working in the area.

Staff from the School of STEM Education, Innovation and Global Studies and students of the Institute of Education played key roles in organising and presenting at the event. This is just a brief email to formally acknowledge the excellent work of Dr Enda Donlon and Associate Professor Deirdre Butler in contributing to the success of this week's Digital Learning Research Symposium. 

Professor Deirdre Butler played an important role on the Programme Committee and contributed an excellent presentation based on the recent MindRising initiative (www.mindrising.ie). She was also instrumental in helping to organise the media team and general assistants consisting of three final year teacher education students (Conor Allen, Jason Carroll and Rory Cole).

Dr Enda Donlon was also a member of the Programme Committee as well as a key member of the Organising Committee. On the day of the Symposium Enda played a crucial role in leading and facilitating the Round Table session in The Mahony Hall, which was central to the programme. He also gave a breakout presentation based on his experience in leading Project 252.
