Academic biography

Dr. Ecaterina (Katya) McDonagh is the Call Manager for Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland (SEAI) calls, as well as EU Horizon Europe Cluster 4 (Digital, Industry, Space) and Cluster 5 (Climate, Energy, Mobility), as well as other EU DG's and programmes. Katya has over ten years full time experience and proven track record in research support, administration and management in the Higher Education Sector as well as over 10 years of full time research experience in Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin and Dublin City University.  She has also extensive experience in evaluating external research funding proposals including for the EU MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships call and research funding calls for the Estonian Research Council. 

 (2000) BA in Political Science, Moldova State University (Chisinau); (2007) Graduate Diploma in Statistics, Trinity College Dublin; (2009) PhD in Political Science, Trinity College Dublin.

Research interests

Comparative democratisation, democracy promotion, effects of external actors on domestic reforms, international institutions, EU foreign policy, international norm development, post-communist politics.
