Matchmaker 2015

An Opportunity for Researchers to meet with Industry

On February 17th the second DCU Business Matchmaker will be held at The Helix. This brokerage event will see over 150 companies and researchers meeting in 20 min one-to-one sessions to discuss potential areas of collaboration.

This is a fantastic opportunity for researchers to hear directly from industry the challenges they are facing, discuss new ideas with innovative companies and explore the various options to collaborate and fund future R&D projects through state and European supports. Companies with both an established R&D programme and start-ups with new ideas will attend.  The Invent, RIS and Hubs teams will be there to provide support and information to all researchers.

This year delegates will hear from two companies that have successfully collaborated with DCU.  IT Solutions who attend the event last year, will explain how they undertook a project with DCU Business School researchers and funded this through Enterprise Ireland funding. The Oriel Sea Minerals and Sea Salt Company will also detail how through engaging DCU experts they were able to scientifically validate their product before going to market.

Also Dr Jim Walsh, Executive Director/CSO Trinity Biotech Plc, Adjunct Professor and Bio- Innovator in Residence at DCU will provide insights on innovation and speak about his experiences in innovative start-ups in Ireland.   This event is kindly sponsored by AIB bank and John O’Dwyer, Head of Technology, Media & Telecommunication Banking ,AIB will also present.
