The DCU Brexit Institute welcomed a number of international leaders, policy makers and academics to a seminar yesterday to discuss the consequences of Brexit on the policies developed to tackle climate change and to ensure sustainable, secure and affordable energy supplies.

Organised in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency, the Political Studies Association of Ireland and Arthur Cox, the event was hosted by Arthur Cox on Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2.

It featured an opening keynote speech by Enrico Letta, former Italian Prime Minister & Dean, Paris School of International Affairs (Sciences Po). This was followed by a panel discussion which included: Prof Charlotte Burns, University of Sheffield; Joseph Curtin, University College Cork and the IIEA; Dr Tanya Harrington, Powerscourt Group; and Dr Diarmuid Torney, Dublin City University. The panel discussion was chaired by Kevin O’Sullivan, Irish Times.

The event finished with a high-level debate between Laura Burke, Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency and Julia King, Baroness Brown of Cambridge and Deputy Chair of the UK Committee on Climate Change.
