Former DCU Ryan Academy start-up has secured €1.7 million in funding

A former DCU Ryan Academy start-up has secured €1.7 million in funding from Bank of Ireland Kernel Capital Venture.

Cork based technology company Zeto provides cloud based software for wireless management of refrigeration systems.

Founded by father and son, Michael and Stephen Slattery, Zeto attended the DCU Ryan Academy Propeller Venture Accelerator Programme in 2012, using the expertise and support gained on this start-up programme to drive the growth of the company. Most recently they have been awarded a significant commercial contract with Lidl, providing refrigeration software nationwide in Lidl’s 182 Irish stores.

Speaking about the development, CEO of the Ryan Academy Eoghan Stack said: “Firstly, I want to extend my congratulations to Michael and Stephen Slattery of Zeto on this hugely significant development which will help to grow Zeto even further. In addition, the securing of such an impressive commercial contract with Lidl is further proof of the quality of Zeto and what they offer and is testament to the hard work and commitment of all involved. We are delighted to have been with Zeto on the start of their journey and to watch their progress along the way.

Stories like Zeto demonstrate the importance of having good support and expertise as start-ups begin their business journey and highlight the importance of putting in place a good foundation through business mentoring, expertise and advice, which are provided at the DCU Ryan Academy, where we are to the fore in helping start-ups and entrepreneurs realise their potential.”

The DCU Ryan Academy Propeller Venture Accelerator Programme is Ireland’s most successful privately funded accelerator. Kauffman Fellows selected Propeller as the 7th best accelerator programme in Europe.

It is the only angel funded accelerator in Ireland, with all funding coming solely from successful entrepreneurs.
