Great Weekend for DCU athletes!

DCU athletes past and present enjoyed a great weekend of successes at the National Senior championships in Santry winning no fewer than 18 national medals. Current students to win national medals included Saragh Buggy (1st) in the Triple Jump and (2nd) in the Long jump, Lillyann O Hora (1st) in the 100mH, Kelly Mc Grory (1st) in the 400mH, Marco Pons (1st) in the Discus, Catherine Mc Manus (2nd) in the 200m, Matthew Behan (2nd) in the 110mH, Kayleigh Cronin (2nd) in the Discus, Barry Pender (2nd) in the HJ, Michael Bowler (3rd) in the Pole Vault, Cormac Kelly (3rd) in the 1500m, Sarah Mc Carthy (3rd) in the LJ and Pierre Murchan (1st) in the Junior 3000m. Of our recent graduates, Brian Gregan won the 400m in 46.28 from Craig Lynch with 46.40, Mark Christie (2nd) in the 10000m, Eoin Everard (2nd) in the 1500m and Emmet Jennings (3rd) in the 3000mS/C. James Kelly threw a new PB in the Men’s shot with 13.69m, Brandon Arrey ran a new PB of 47.77 for the 400m, Conor Duncan ran a new PB of 1.54.52 over 800m while Greta Streimkyte qualified for the ladies 1500m final and in doing so, raced to 2 new personal bests over the weekend in the heats and final.

After the championships, the following 9 DCU athletes (past or present) were selected to compete at the European track & field championships in Amsterdam from July 6th – 10th.
