Professor Brian MacCraith, President of DCU attended the Washington Ireland Programme's (WIP) Congressional Forum in the US Capitol on Wednesday last where WIP Interns, including four DCU students, met with Members of Congress, discussing a range of policy issues, both US and international. Later that week, Professor MacCraith was guest speaker at the farewell reception for the Washington Ireland Programme's Class of 2012 hosted by Irish Ambassador Michael Collins and his wife at their residence in Washington.
Professor MacCraith said,
"Dublin City University is proud to support the Washington Ireland Programme for Service and Leadership. Each year, WIP gives students from Ireland and Northern Ireland the chance to come together and experience the unique political culture of Washington and the tremendous hospitality of Irish America. I am delighted that four students from Dublin City University were chosen to participate in this year's programme and I look forward to welcoming the Class of 2012 back home as young leaders for our island's future."
