CoderDojo comes to DCU

Minister for Training & Skills, Mr Ciaran Cannon TD dropped into DCU at the weekend for the launch of CoderDojo @DCU, a new computer coding club for young people.

The club, the first of its kind on the north side of Dublin City, provides an opportunity for young people aged 10 upwards to learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programs, games and more. Noel King, Chief Mentor, who has been assisted by mentor Ben Chapman and Dr Mark Roantree, DCU School of Computing, summed up the philosophy and aims of the club, ‘CoderDojo is teaching kids what is cool about coding and computers. We will be aiming to teach web application and android development at CoderDojo DCU and our target for the first week is for every child to have designed their first website.’

This cool weekly club will run every Saturday and tickets are available online every Monday from 7pm at http://coderdojodcu.eventbrite.com/
