President's Awards for Civic Engagement

Each year, the President's Awards for Civic Engagement reward the outstanding achievements of DCU staff and students in engaging with the local community to address social, economic, cultural or environmental issues. Two separate awards, each to the value of €1000, are presented each year; one for staff-initiated and led engagement activities, the second, for student-initiated and led activities. The awards will be presented by DCU President, Professor Brian MacCraith at a special ceremony in early May.

The awards:

  • Recognise DCU staff and student commitment to civic engagement
  • Acknowledge the university's commitment to addressing social, economic, cultural or environmental challenges locally
  • Promote academic projects which encourage community-engaged learning, research or partnerships
  • Support teaching, learning, knowledge-sharing and research initiatives which promote citizenship and critical enquiry
  • Recognise DCU staff and student demonstration of community leadership

The closing date for nominations is Wednesday 4th April 2012.

Application forms and full details of the awards programme are available on the DCU website www.dcu.ie/community/civicEngagement/presidents/2012.shtml
