School of Mathematical Sciences

Opportunities for Enterprise

The School values enterprise, and positively engages with relevant external bodies.

Teaching Council of Ireland

The last few years have radical reform in the training of secondary school teachers. In the context of redesigning the Science Education programme, the School had significant input into submissions made to the council.

Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFA)

The School engages frequently with the IFA, both in reviews of the Actuarial Mathematics programme and in other contributions to actuarial education.

Outreach Activities to Schools

The School runs, in conjunction with BITE (Ballymun Initiative for Third-Level Education) and DCU Access Office, the DCU Voluntary Maths Tuition Programme; this was awarded the DCU President's Award for Engagement in 2010. Also events are run every year for children from local schools, as part of Maths Week Ireland.

The School is open to engage productively with government, public, private and not-for-profit organisations. If you have an interest in consultancy with members of the School, contact Invent, DCU's Innovation and Enterprise Centre.
