CERL (Heritage of the Printed Book Database)

Online referencing tool, Cite them right is now in its 12th edition and has also been re-envisaged as this user-friendly online platform. Contains information on referencing all of its sources in Harvard (author-date). However, there is also information about referencing in APA; MHRA; MLA; OSCOLA; Vancouver and Chicago styles. Remember to always use the referencing style recommended by your lecturer. Cite them right online works on your tablet or smartphones, so you’ll always have the guidance you need at hand.  

Cochrane Library
Part of the Cochrane Collaboration. The Cochrane Library is considered to be the prime source of evidence-based healthcare.  Contains Systematic Reviews, Controlled Trials Register and more.  This database is freely available to anyone on the island of Ireland.

Compendex is a major interdisciplinary engineering database offering abstracts from 5,000 engineering journals, conference papers and  technical reports. Covers 175 disciplines and major specialities within these broad engineering areas: mechanical, civil, environmental, electrical, materials science, chemical, optics, solid state physics, control, and engineering management. Available through EI Engineering Village.

Covidence
Covidence is a web-based tool designed to streamline the systematic review process. It will also be useful to those conducting scoping, integrative or other comprehensive reviews. Covidence enables review teams to efficiently screen abstracts and full text, conduct risk of bias assessment and easily extract and store data. It includes customisable data extraction forms and automatically populates tables and Prisma flow chart.

To create a Covidence account using the DCU Library's institutional license, you must first request an invitation using your DCU email address. Once you accept the invitation* (this will take the form of a one-time use link via email) you will be sent to the login page where you can sign up to, or sign in (if you had previously signed up as an individual) to Covidence.

CSD (Cambridge Structural Database)
The Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) is a highly curated and comprehensive resource. Established in 1965, the CSD is the world’s repository for small-molecule organic and metal-organic crystal structures. Containing over 1.25M entries from x-ray and neutron diffraction analyses, this unique database of accurate 3D structures has become an essential resource to scientists around the world.

Dictionary of Irish Biography 
The Dictionary of Irish Biography, a collaborative project between Cambridge University Press and the Royal Irish Academy, is the most comprehensive and authoritative biographical dictionary yet published for Ireland. It contains almost 11,000 signed biographical articles which describe and assess the careers of subjects in all fields of endeavour, including politics, law, religion, literature, journalism, architecture, painting, music, the stage, science, medicine, engineering, entertainment and sport.

Dissertations Abstracts is the largest single source of information about doctoral dissertations and master's theses available. You can choose to either search dissertations and theses produced by students at Dublin City University (Dissertations & Theses @ Dublin City University) or the world's most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses from around the world, spanning from 1743 to the present day (ProQuest Dissertations & Theses A&I) or both.

Dublin Castle Records 
Also known as The British in IrelandDublin Castle Records, 1798-1926 contains records of the British administration in Ireland prior to 1922. This collection comprises materials from Series CO 904, The National Archives, Kew, UK.

DynaMed is a clinical reference tool created by physicians for physicians and other health care professionals for use at the point-of-care. With clinically -organized summaries for more than 3,200 topics, DynaMed provides the latest content and resources.

Eikon 
Eikon is a financial data product incorporating both Datastream and Thomson One into a single package. Providing access to extensive market information for listed companies, users can obtain current data of exchange-traded instruments (stocks, options, futures, indexes etc). In addition, Eikon provides historic equity data ranging from several months to 20 years. Access is available via username and password to both the web-based version and the desktop application, should you wish to use the Datastream Excel Add-On.

ERIC International  
ERIC International consists of two abstract databases which can be searched together or separately:

  • The Australian Education Index is Australia's largest source of education information. Its sources include reports, books, journal articles, online resources, conference papers, book chapters and theses. Coverage: 1977 to date.
  • ERIC (the US Educational Resources Information Center) is the world's largest education database, indexing over 650 journals, as well as grey literature. Publication types include journal articles, books, research syntheses, conference papers, technical reports and policy papers. Coverage: 1966 to date.

ESRI reports
Full-text of the Economic and Social Research Institute publications.  Search or browse and download PDF documents.  Covers a wide range of topics including education, health, gender issues, housing, industrial development, and social disadvantage.

European Newsstream 
European Newsstream enables users to search a wide selection of Irish, European and UK news content with archives back to the 1990s, including newspapers such as The Irish Times, The Irish Independent, Financial Times and The Guardian, newswires, journals, and websites in full-text format.  Substantial backfiles are available for most newspapers, providing full-text access to the articles, columns, editorials, and features published in each. 

FAME

Royal Irish Academy  
The Royal Irish Academy is Ireland's leading body of experts in the Sciences and Humanities.

The Academy currently publishes six journals: three sections of proceedings—Mathematical Proceedings; Biology and Environment; and Proceedings, Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy: Archaeology, Culture, History, Literature—as well as Ériu, the leading journal in Irish philology and literature; Irish Journal of Earth Sciences and Irish Studies in International Affairs.
