Welcome to the website of the Ireland India Institute. The Institute is a national centre for academic, enterprise and research collaboration between Ireland and India. It will be Ireland’s centre of knowledge exchange around all issues associated with contemporary India. It aims to serve all those actively engaged in joint research or trade with India, as well as those with an academic, commercial or cultural interest. We hope that the Ireland India Institute will serve as a national focal point for Ireland-India co-operation.

This Institute is built on firm foundations already established between DCU and India’s most prestigious higher educational establishments. Out of a strategic decision to prioritise engagement with India, we have established significant programmes of work between DCU researchers and their Indian counterparts.

The Ireland India Institute will build on that work and, in delivering on its mission to support, facilitate and promote vibrant intellectual engagement, it will play a central role in Ireland’s interaction with India.

At its core the Institute will be an active network of enterprise and academic partners who have an affinity for India. In that spirit I hope you will explore this site to discover the breadth of DCU’s engagement with India and follow the Institute’s activities in the months and years ahead.

Contemporary Ireland and India face the same global challenges, issues such as healthcare, ageing and sustainability.

The Institute will help focus our joint efforts in achieving common solutions to these challenges. It will become a focal point for the study of contemporary India and a place for all friends of India.

I welcome DCU’s continued strategic focus on my country which is based on academic and research excellence.
