LEAD Programme

The Lead Living Equality and Diversity Programme

The LEAD Living Equality and Diversity eLearning programme is an innovative learning resource developed by six of the Irish Universities members of the IUA Equality Network: DCU, NUIG, TCD, UCC, UCD and UL in collaboration with Aurion Learning and with the support of the Equality Authority Mainstreaming Unit.
The LEAD programme is an interactive tailored online resource that aims to provide University staff with an awareness of the key equality and diversity issues across the nine equality grounds in Irish legislation in a University context. The programme will be implemented across the sector as part of a blended approach to generating staff engagement.

Benefits

This programme is designed to give staff a general understanding of why it is important that we all play our part in supporting the University Sector's aim of providing an inclusive environment which promotes equality and values diversity and how this applies in practice to the workplace. The use of this interactive and multimedia resource will enable staff to consider and reflect on the part they play in building an inclusive culture. It will be able to reach a wider audience than a classroom based methodology: potentially 16,000 staff will be able to interact with this eLearning tool as the learning will not be restricted by a time and place.

Programme Content and Features

The LEAD Programme is a self paced modular learning tool, which allows each participant flexibility in completing the course. The programme features an intuitive, easy to use navigation throughout five core content modules. Each section contains video and multimedia stories and scenarios, interactive games & quizzes and online instant assessments to offer participants valuable feedback on their learning.

Content

  • Module 1 - Understanding Diversity
  • Module 2 - What's it got to do with you?
  • Module 3 - From Compliance to commitment
  • Module 4 - Recruitment & Selection
  • Module 5 - Dignity & Respect

Participants can save their progress and return at any time to complete the five modules. The estimated overall time for completion of the programme is 2 hours.

Who Is Lead For?

The LEAD programme has been designed for use by all University staff - academic, professional and support – and is particularly relevant to staff with management or recruitment roles. The programme has the potential for use in other third level institutions or as part of student career development programmes.
